i have been babying my hamstrings for like 3 weeks now, and it seems to be getting worse. i took a week off from jumping and i only jogged, stretched, heat/ice... i felt good so i came back but didnt do workouts and jumped twice a week. but now everytime i jump my hamstrings are really really tight, even though i warmed up really well and stretched for like an hour straight. what should i do? should i stop jumping completely and only jog?

Working on the principle that you know you have tight hamstrings, and so are doing a good 30minutes of stretching every night, on top of that there are a few other things you can do:
1 - with someone who knows what they are doing get them to work on some PNF stretching with you
2 - Massage
3 - If you have access to EMS, this can also be used instead of massage, and to maintain legstrength while resting
4 - Strength and conditioning, if you are well conditioned the liklihood of injury is greatly reduced, this doesnt just mean weights, there are many exercises that can be done at any age.
Keep active and see a physio to get to the source of the problem, tight hamstrings are very rarely just tight hamstrings.

Aim high, then at least if you miss you won't shoot yourself in the foot.
I've recently developed a similar problem related to intense tightness on the hamstring of my right (drive) leg. The problem is most noticible when i am inactive for a long period of time, such as when i wake up.
After lengthy stretching and throughly warming up, it still feels tight but does not seem to affect my preformance. One thing that has helped my discomfort has been heating the muscle while alternating 30 second periods of rest with 30 seconds of stretching.
Maybe this can help you with your similar problem and if anyone out there knows what may be the cause or solution to mine, i'd love to hear them. Thanks alot.
