Is there a difference between dumbells and the bar? Which would be better to do for polevaulting? I could never understand how they are different.

I'm not sure on the +'s for vaulting... but the main difference between dumbbells and barbell is tha the dumbbells hit your stabilizer muscles more because your using one arm to put up each weight, and cant have your stronger arm help a possible weaker one.

im 135 sophmore in highshool and i put up 155 for my first 7 or 8 months of lifting, at first i wasn't really into bench, but then i started working on it harder. im looking for around 180 by the end of the year.

Weight lifting has become the new high school hobby around my area the last few years, it's too bad most kids don't know what they are doing.

Amazing how many hits dealing with an activity which is almost irrelevant to the very real problems most vaulters on this forum seem to have.
