You can also make a bar bell out of that arrangment. 12 ounce, multiplied by 12, equals, what, a 144 ounce curls? It's weightlifting! ;)
Maybe I wasn't supposed to eat those paint chips?

Curls

Unread postby jmayesvaultmom » Thu May 08, 2003 6:05 pm

But with her pole bag with 11 poles in it.....of course they're Pacer Mystic Carbons...so it would still be pretty light.... ;)

That brought a smile - little humor goes a long way - now if I drink all twelve - Think pole vaulting would not be a good idea - even for a cheesehead

Premeet routine

Unread postby jmayesvaultmom » Thu May 08, 2003 6:37 pm

Well....since Jodie has only just turned 16....I would probably have to be the one with the "premeet routine" and since I sit in the stands it probably wouldn't matter...except for the meets with no coach that she wants my help...maybe not then?????

Always found it harder to watch my kids that compete myself - even harder to watch Katie (our youngest she is a senior) - never know what to say to them - was worse coaching them - her brother gave me a few gray hairs - but would not miss it for the world -

Drive

Unread postby jmayesvaultmom » Fri May 09, 2003 6:20 am

She drives herself to the hs practices when the poles are already there. But her practices with a coach have always been 2-10 hours one way and I am the one with the roof rack so I drive us then...plus that is some long driving for a hs sophomore. She has not had a practice with a coach since spring break. But......WE FOUND A GUY TO HELP HER!!!! Believe it or not, this week I found out about a guy that moved here a couple of months ago and lives 30 minutes from us and has a university-sized pit in his back yard!!!!! He used to jump for Arkansas and also for Arizona. His name is Gordon Sasser. He helped Jodie this week and they did a "mini-meet" with a crossbar at practice. She jumped 12' first attempt and then 12'6" on her second attempt!!!! She had at least 6" clearance over 12'6"!! What a difference a coach makes!!! She had some bigger longer poles in her bag that I had not wanted her to get on without the advice of a coach....and she got on them big-time! He also helped her work on some things with her technique and width of her grip. She is super pumped up and excited now!!:D :D :D :D

Awesome! I know how much of a pain running all over to vault can be...

I didn't get my license until into my senior year :o My parents wouldn't let me drive on the freeway for awhile, so my mom took me to practice.

My dad did a few times... but he would go to the Super Mall while I was practicing... one day he bought 3 coats... Mom always took me to practice after that ;) I didn't mind though. It let me catch up on sleep!

Driving

Unread postby jmayesvaultmom » Fri May 09, 2003 7:13 am

She has actually been driving by herself since October even though she didn't turn 16 until March 4th. I got her a hardship driver's license through the athletic director because of her doing four different sports with all the practices and no transportation to the practices or events through the school system. :P
