Ryan Shuler edges teammate Scott Roth at SJS Division I Finals as they
now rank first and second in U.S. in 2006 and appear on state all-time list!
Pole Vault
18-02.00 Brandon Richards (San Marcos, Santa Barbara) 1985
17-08.50 Brent Burns (Acalanes, Lafayette) 1987
17-05.00 -Scott Roth (Granite Bay) 2006
17-04.25 Anthony Curran (Crespi, Encino) 1978
17-04.00 -Ryan Shuler (Granite Bay) 2006
Shuler/Roth are second-best duo in prep vaulting history, as per Jack Shepard.
All-time is Eric Eshbach and Johnathan Henley from Orangefield HS in
Texas in 1999, when Eshbach set the then national record 18-02.25 and
Henley cleared 17-03 as both did those marks at the state meet!
The 17-04 by Roth here is the best non-winning mark from a pair of
teammates in U.S. prep history! Shuler won state as a frosh in 2003,
Roth won as a sophomore and a junior in 2004 and 2005. What's
in store for 2006? Remember, St. Francis already has two at 16-07!
Roth (17-5 best) and Shuler (17-4) are 1-2 in the U.S. for 2006!
