I'm glad Lacy was smart enough not to jump. It was a tough but correct decision.
As for Jenn on 3rd attempt clearances - WOW!! The only thing that feels better than a 1st jump make to take the lead is to clear a height that no one else does in a big meet. Pulling that off on a 3rd jump is BIG and says tons about her mental toughness as well as her ability to tweak her jump. Outstanding!!
With that said, I got an email from a vaulter friend in Europe who said he is still waiting for our Nationals to finally be won again at a height that was at least up to some of the other foreign girls starting heights. He then rattled off a number of girls who start at 4.55m or higher. I wasn't at Indy but felt like I was with that great coverage. From the feeling I got, all of the girls performed superbly considering the size and class of field, the waiting to learn when and where (outdoors/indoors) they would vault, and then the conditions themselves. CONGRATS girls!!

Any pictures of video's of both the men and women? Just curious, would like to see Russ's new technique! Congrats man, i was pulling for you after seeing you jump in Reno! Your a great guy, and I am glad to have met you along with my teammates. I am sure Katie Anderson our sprint coach would be pumped as well! Congrats man!

The pole vault competition pitted not just the best in the United States, but some of the best vaulters in the world. Included in the group were Unger and former Lady’Back April Steiner who made up a significant part of the 21-person field. With the opening height at 13-7, many of the vaulters failed to make a bar including Unger, but the misses were not without significance. Along with Arkansas’ current sensation, current NCAA Outdoor Champion Lacy Janson, SEC Outdoor Champion Kierney Jackson and NCAA indoor track record holder Amy Linnen all failed to make the opening height.
Steiner did make it over 13-7 on her first try to place herself in contention for the meet title, but a miss at 14-1 dropped her to sixth. Steiner would make the bar on her second to hold her position, but would not clear another height, ending her day in a tie for the sixth spot.
