Blom misses Euro champs

Reigning world champion Rens Blom of the Netherlands has pulled out of the pole vault competition at next month's European championships because of poor form.
Blom, who claimed a shock win at the world event in Helsinki a year ago, said he would take up competition again in Zurich on August 18, a few days after the championships in Gothenburg, Sweden, from August 7 to 13.

He told his internet site on Monday: "The European championships have come around too early for me and I don't have the necessary form to compete at my best."
