AU Track to Host Indoor Clinics
October 4, 2006

The Ashland University track and field program will host two, one-day indoor track and field clinics. The clinics, under the direction of AU head coach Jud Logan, are scheduled for Sunday Jan. 7 and Sunday, Jan 14, 2007. Both clinics will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The sessions will be held at AU’s Conard Field House. The clinics are open to boys and girls grades 7 and above and will provide instruction in the pole vault, long jump, high jump, shot put, sprints and hurdles. Cost is $75 for each session and $110 for both.

Participants should bring their own shoes. Pole vaulters are encouraged to bring their own poles, but some will be available for beginners. Plenty of women’s shots are available, but men are encouraged to bring an indoor 12-pound shot if possible. There will be a 30-minute lunch break. Athletes can pack a lunch. Several restaurants are within walking distance of Conard Field House.

The clinic staff will be directed by Logan, a four-time Olympian. Other instructors are A.G. Kruger, another United States Olympian, AU assistant coach Dave Smalley, former All-America sprinter Jody Stewart and former All-America long jumper Joey Brightbill. AU vault coach Denny Steele is also part of the staff.

Forms can be obtained by calling Logan at 330-494-7026 or emailing the AU coach. Another way to receive a form is to contact Logan at AU Track Camp, c/o Ashland University, Ashland, OH 44805.
