ok ive applied to UMR already and im heavily considering it but i just found out that i can easily get into Purdue and can get a full ride to LSU. My fall back choices are USF and FSU and im in the process of applying to georgia tech and USC. I was wondering how good, or bad, the vault programs at these schools are and how reputable their computer engineering programs are. Any info would be greatly appreciated, im going to be visiting UMR soon i hope and im going to be calling coaches this weekend.

Purdue is generally pretty good in the vault. They usually have a decent number of vaulters. LSU can be good. They don't keep a lot of guys on the team though.

You'll need to talk to the coaches and see what their walk-on standards are. It's a lot harder to walk-on as a guy. They like to keep their numbers low.

i just got accepted to UMR and theyre offering me $8,000 so im really considering it. especialy since i still have to apply to purdue and lsu. i should be calling the coaches of all three colleges this weekend since those are my top picks at the moment.

I don't know what your PR is, but it'll probably take a minimum of 16' to walk on at LSU and probably 15' at Purdue.

Genrally if your trying to go after a big team to vault for, if they let you walk on, it may take a year or two to make a roster, if they keep you around.

All those schools are big schools so no matter where you go they will have coaches for the vault that will be experenced, and they will all have funds so what ever you need they will get.

If i was you, im not but if i was.... Talk to coaches and find a school that most fits for you, go on visits talk to team members, maybe one school will not have a team atmosphere that you are down with. Maybe you will click with a coach or something, its really important that you find out all the information you can before you choose.

It takes a minimum of 15' to get a scholarship and vault at USF. FSU walk-on standard is 15'6", and 16'6" to get a scholarship. Both schools have a good vault program. I was lucky enough to work with both coaches, Coach Nobles (FSU) and Coach Marsh (USF). Both have had a 17' vaulter within the past 2 years (Johnathan Miller -- USF, and Matt Hurley -- FSU). I would not overlook either one of them. They are both great choices, if you like big schools.
