If they are "inviting" you to something like this and its legit, chances are they have some deals for going. Sounds to me like its just a big meet in australia that is being marketed as an elite competition. Look into it, and i bet you could spend less than 4500 bucks on your own to compete in it.
The greater the challenge, the more glorious the triumph
It's not too much of an honor to get those letters. Almost anyone gets them. I'm a junior now and i've been getting the same letter since i was an 9th grader vaulting only 8 feet. It perty much sounds like a huge scam to me. Don't feel too honored about it. I don't mean to burst your bubble but it's the truth.. It would be fun to go to, i'm sure you'd have a blast, but i really think it's a scam.

It doesn't cost that much to go on your own. This price is so that you can help pay for some of the coaches that accompany "the team" down there!!! and yes, it is not that prestigious - anyone gets invited - just because they are looking for "decent" talent who has money to make the team. If you're looking to go to australia - buy tours to visit the country. If you're looking to attend meets - attend them here and use the remaining money to buy matching poles!
