I was looking back, and both Higham and Poljanec were sophomores last year that jumped 17-7ish at NCAA's outdoor also... they might have a chance to go 18+ as well...

there are alot of good jumpers this year nationwide. you have more than five over 18ft already. tommy skipper, scott martin, gabe baldwin, graeme hoste, mike landers, jimmy heath, brad gabauer-sp?, and both northern iowa boys jumped 18ft over the summer in europe. and you have several others who may jump 5.50 adam sarafian(17'6) chip heuser (17'10) the pittsburg guy (17'11) mitch has already jumped 17'7. there are more that i cant think of plus some good freshman with 5.30+ pr's.

Keith Higham (Pitt) went back to England. His coach left and the school would not release him.

Rory Quiller up here in NY has jumped at least 17' and he can definitely get more than that with a little practice.

I don't think very many 17' high schoolers jump 18' their first year of college. There is usually an adjustment period, and it's a pretty big jump from 17' to 18'.

I do hear that Scott Roth is doing well in training, and Jordan Scott already jumped 5.23, so it sounds like they are off to a good start.

It is almost impossible to PR every year. If it were possible the WR would be like 22'. I know that several peolpe have jumped 18' that I did not list. The people that have jumped mid 17' more than likely won't get 18' this year. It takes alomst perfect form to do that. You can still do it if you don't have "perfect" form but you must have one heck of a push off.

That is completely not true. I have seen a bunch of ugly-lookin 18'0 jumps.

Some weren't very good pushoffs either. Just extremely gifted athletes holding high and running fast.

It does say alot about their potential if they cared even a little bit about cleaning up their jump and becoming more efficient.

That sucks! Keith was a great guy and a very talented jumper I would be very upset...granted I don't know the circumstances, but it seems like Pitt should have released him.

Anybody know what happened to Coach Phillips...he was doing a great job with that program

I believe he left to be a high school athletic director.
