That funky odor

Unread postby rainbowgirl28 » Thu Mar 29, 2007 1:39 pm

I recently was given a pair of used spikes to replace mine that got stolen. They are awesome, but I can tell whoever had them before me did not wear socks with them.

Plus, I know some other vaulters *coughpeasleecough* that have some super foul smelling spikes, so they need tips too.

What are some tips for getting that funky odor out of your spikes?

One standard remedy for bad odors is to sprinkle baking soda on the area that smells. Just let it set a day or two then shake it out. It's cheap and it won't harm the shoes. ...just a thought.

i have to say i'm guilty of the no sock thing...on the way home from states last year my coach almost threw my spikes out the window of the bus...that is before he nearly passed out from them. :P

Try a fabric softner sheet in each of them. The kind that goes in the when you dry clothes. They work wonders

I sell air purification systems that are great!!! Not only does it clean the air but I put my track shoes in front of the unit and by the morning they smell like they just came out of the box!!! Works on socks too!!
